On October 3, 1949 members of the Hickory Corners community and surrounding areas applied for a charter to incorporate a new fire protection service. Directors Edwin Harris, Ernest Deppen and Treasurer Wesley Snyder led the organization, armed with a starting account of $163.00. The next day Justice of the Peace J.C. Billman placed his seal on the charter. Judge William Troutman and Prothonotary Larry V. Snyder signed and sealed the document on October 24, 1949, officially creating the Corporation known as “The Hickory Corners and Community Fire Co.”, to be in the Village of Hickory Corners, Township of Lower Mahanoy, Northumberland County, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
